Lilycove had begun to bustle with the joy of the hoennian new year. The year of the bull, or ox, however you’d look at it. Even so this was Billi’s first festival here in Hoenn and it was SOO amazing! He had been given a Kimono that fit his personality. Something with the bug pokemon across it, in luxurious golden threads. Even so, he walked down the festival, stopping at the cute little….pond thing that had tiny magikarp and the odd feebas swimming around in it. There was a shiny one of each swimming in there, “Is this a game or something?”

"First time Billi?" Zac asked his friend, who has just joined the fishing game right across from him. Zac picked up his net and walked over to join him. "It's pretty straight forward," he said. "Nice kimono by the way," Zac added trying very hard to not get the handle of the net stuck in the sleeve of his fur-lined kimono (it may not be traditional, but boy was it warm). Zac gestured out to the pond filled with deceptively-slow-moving fish Pokemon.
"You get five minutes to try and snag one of these little devils. Easy right?" Zac said, grinning. Suddenly, the smile fell from his face and Zac became deadly serious. "Except it isn't easy. I've been here for almost an hour Billi and I can't get a single one of these red-scaled devils!"
"The net's too small, their tails are too powerful, and a hundred years worth of festivals has left only the hardest, fastest bastards in this tank. Sure they throw in a few easy ones each year, but they're all gone now mate."
To emphasise his point, Zac struck out with his net. He moved with lightning speed and practised ease, but the net passed straight through the water, not even coming into contact with the Magikarp that had easily avoided his swipe. The smug fish splashed him, and Zac growled.
"So how about it mate. My shout. Help me catch one. Any one of these blasted fish."

Billi looked down at the fish that swam around, and apparently they were the last ones to show up and do this...sooooo yeah. It was a little disappointing that the chance to win was lower, but the game was intriguing. “Oh so like...is it suppose to be good luck or something,” Billi asked as his eyebrows rose in question and a bit of curiosity, but he nodded. The moment he was asked to help he grinned with joy.[break][break]

“Okay I’m ready,” he grabbed the little net and let it stay in the water chasing down the red magikarp trying to trap it in Zac’s fishing net, “Oh thank you for the compliment….a friend gave it to me!” he smiled his tongue stuck out in concentration.

"Well your friend has great taste. Love the detailing on the bugs," Zac said, as he put his next back into the tank. "You ready? Okay lets try a Pinsir manouver." Zac suggested, as helined up his net with Billi's. The Magikarp paused, barely swimming, just floating calmly between the two nets.
Oh we've got him now.
Zac brought his net together with Billi's, trapping the Magikarp between them. As he did, the Magikarp jumped up, flying straight upwards and out of the water to avoid the nets.
"Get him! Get him!" Zac shouted as he swung wildly at the flying fish. The Magikarp reached the top of it's jump, hit the roof of the festival tent with a wet SPLAT, and fell back down towards the pool. "Billi he's comin' your way mate! Catch him!"

“NOW” the words ripped through the air like a thunderbolt, as nets chased the red magikarp like a dragon parade float. Surely it would if Billi just…. “Squish'' Billi caught the fish by it’s tail end. The Shiny magikarp flail and Billi laughed holding it just barely in the water so it could still breath. “I got it….he’s slimy but hahahahaha does it count?” The blonde asked the red head, “What do we win anyways? Good luck?”[break][break]

His blue eyes looked at the booth runner who was laughing at Billi as the Makikarp jumped up and slapped him.

  The booth owner came over to help Zac and Billi bag up their prize: the Magikarp.
    "We did it mate!" Zac said, as they walked off, Billi holding a sealed plastic bag full of water and the golden Magikarp. It was clear plastic, designed for easy carrying so that prize winners could easily transport their new fishy friend.
    "It is good luck to catch the shiny one, but mainly it's for the thrill of the hunt," Zac explained.
They walked through the festival, checking out the other prize stalls, until suddenly Zac felt something splash on his feet. He looked over and noticed that the Magikarp carry bag was leaking, the precious water spilling onto the ground. Inside, the Magikarp looked pleased with itself.
"The little devil poked a hole in his bag!"

Billi clapped to himself as they were given the bag with the magikarp inside of it, and it seemed...annoyed. “He barely fits in the back,” the blonde peeped up smiling to himself as he walked with the red head, “It’s cool that we get to keep it.” he looked back at male, “Good luck…..? Well….I’m hoping that’s true hahahaha,” he laughed before the water trickled below and he heard the magikarp bellow at them. [break][break]

THEME

Zac looked around for somewhere to release the Magikarp. There was a duck catching game nearby, with dozens of blue Ducklett toys bobbing in a pool. Too small.
Next to it were the hot springs baths, with people lined up to take a steaming dip. Too hot.
And at the end of the festival was a man-made pond, fed by a waterfall leading down from another pond on a higher tier of the city. Perfect.
"Billi! Over here mate there is perfect spot!" Zac called.
They rushed over to the large pond, which was filled with floating Lotad and moss-sucking Poliwags.
"Chuck him in here, he should be fine."

“Oh my yeah yeah yeah I’m coming!” Billi yelled out as he ran holding the bag. His hand covering the hole trying to prevent the water from flowing out. Even though the water level was rapidly decreasing and it’s life line was at risk, the magikarp still found it funny! “What’s so funny!? You’ll die if you don’t get to water,” still...it laughed until Billi tripped, landing against Zac, pulled at the kimono, trying to hold himself up, making a wardrobe malfunction as the Magikarp flew out and blopped into the water.
